Betty Ferguson Foundation to Recognize Jacquie Petersen as 2010 Woman of Honor
August, 2010 - Issue #70
Betty Ferguson Foundation has selected Jacquie Petersen as their Woman of Honor for 2010. This honor is bestowed upon her in appreciation and recognition of her service as a philanthropist and visionary within our community. Her achievements have provided an unparalleled example for women throughout the Santa Clarita Valley and beyond. Her dedication, hard work, and tireless effort to bring high-quality opportunities to Santa Clarita Valley residents are remarkable.

The Woman of Honor dinner will be held at the Hyatt Regency Valencia on Saturday, September 11, 2010. The event will feature recognition of Jacquie by friends and family, and a special Tribute to 9/11, as well as dinner and dancing. Tickets may be purchased at the Foundation Office, located at 25510 West Avenue Stanford, Suite 104 in Valencia, by calling 661-702-8712, or visiting their website at www.bettyferguson.org.

"We are thrilled to be honoring Jacquie Petersen as our 11th Woman of Honor. Jacquie and her husband quietly came to Santa Clarita to follow their family after much notoriety in the Brentwood Area. But it didn't take long for Santa Clarita to embrace this wonderful couple as its own," said Julie Sturgeon, a member of the board of directors of Betty Ferguson Foundation, and co-chair of the event.

"The Woman of Honor Dinner is the pinnacle of our year. We have a great team working together to make Mrs. Petersen feel like the precious gem that she is," said Jane E. Bettencourt-Soto, Betty Ferguson Foundation executive director.

The Hyatt will provide a plated dinner, and Stew and The Crew (a popular crowd pleaser from previous dinners) will provide live music before and after dinner. Sponsors to date include: Child & Family Center, College of the Canyons Foundation, Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, Inside SCV Magazine, Julie M. Sturgeon, CPA, KHTS AM 1220, Leadership Lab, The Magazine of Santa Clarita and Women Entrepreneurs of SCV.

"For us, this event is the high point of every year," said Marjanne Priest, co-founder of the Foundation. "We have honored several amazing women over the past 10 years," she continued, "and we are looking forward to seeing many of them at this year's event!"
