Great Finds - Spooktacular Fun for All at Heritage Haunt
October, 2006 - Issue #24
Boo! What kid, or adult for that matter, wouldn't enjoy experiencing a classic Halloween night out a whole 10 days before the actual calendared event?

This year, the volunteers who make up the Santa Clarita Valley Historical Society will host Heritage Haunt on Saturday, October 21. Held at Heritage Junction, located on San Fernando Road in Newhall, the event will run from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. For guests 6 years and older, the historic Pardee House will become a place of giggles and screams; the old Santa Clarita home will evolve into a haunted house for anyone who dares enter. Guests of all ages will also enjoy trick-or-treating on Main Street and hearing ghost stories based on local lore. For an additional nominal fee, pony rides, a petting zoo, a horse-drawn wagon, a fortune teller and tasty eats will also be available.

Admission to Heritage Haunt is $10, which includes access to the haunted Pardee house, as well as trick-or-treating. Guests who aren't interested in strolling through a home full of ghouls and goblins pay $5 to enter and have access to trick-or-treating. All guests are invited to don their best costume finery.

For adults who like to explore "the other side," the evening's Ghostathon provides an overnight option that's sure to raise the hairs on the back of your neck. Armed only with your sleeping bag, pillow, flashlight and toiletries, you and 19 other guests will experience a ghost hunt in the Newhall Ranch House. The home is considered to have numerous "residents" who have since passed on, but with the addition of the evening's seance, you may just meet them. Dinner and a continental breakfast are also included in the $100 price.

--------------------------------------------------------------

All proceeds from Heritage Haunt and Ghostathon will go towards the restoration of the Pardee House. For further information, go to www.scvhs.org or call 254-1275.
