Project Town Angels Takes Flight for Hurricane Katrina
New Santa Clarita Group Working to Host Two Families Displaced by the Disaster
November, 2005 - Issue #13
Hurricanes Katrina and Rita have affected left us asking, "How can we help?" A group of Santa Clarita individuals have come together to organize community support to host two families left homeless by these disasters for up to 12 months.

The group is called Project Town Angels and was started by Shauna Hoffman, a local therapist, who felt compelled to find a way to help. Project Town Angels is putting out a call to the Santa Clarita community to help with goods, services and money to assist these families in making the transition from barely surviving to thriving.

First priority commitments are needed for housing, jobs, and transportation for each family so that Project Town Angels can identify the families and bring them to our community.

All contributions will be made specifically to the families or donor; checks will be made payable directly to service providers. Where applicable, contributions will be accepted in the form of gift certificates, such as grocery and clothing stores.

It is expected that most contributions will be of goods and services. There is no way to make a cash donation directly to Project Town Angels.

The local team is here to facilitate the process of giving and serving. Project Town Angels believes that people helping people is how we make a better world. Making a difference begins with one person taking one action and continues person by person, action by action.

If you would like to learn more about Project Town Angels and be part of "people helping people," please call 310-2900, e-mail scvangels@yahoo.com, and visit the website at www.townangels.org. The group hopes to receive commitments for housing, job opportunities, and transportation shortly so that the families can be in our community as soon as possible.
