If Wolf Creek Restaurant & Brewing Company is my "Cheers," does that make me "Norm?"
Probably. And, if it means I can keep eating and drinking here indefinitely, I'm totally fine with that.
Chances are, you've visited Wolf Creek before, so I don't need to tell you about its convenient location (At the cross of McBean and Decoro in Valencia.), it's cozy ambience (You'll find me on their covered patio at least one day a week during the summer.) or their friendly service (Some staff have been with the restaurant for a decade or more. These are quality people!).
What I should tell you about is what keeps folks like me returning week after week. Some come after church, others just for Happy Hour (Which rocks on Mondays from 4pm to close; Tuesday through Friday from 4pm to 6:30pm and Saturday from 8pm to close.). But we all come because we know we'll get great food (Familiar favorites, with a Wolf Creek twist - all handmade from scratch.), killer beer and incredible desserts (In-house pastry chef Meghan Launier couldn't be better; truly Santa Clarita's finest and one of the best in So Cal!), all for a price that makes it easy to build Wolf Creek into our weekly budget.
There's something for everyone on this eclectic menu, and you'll be hard pressed to find a more extensive collection of good eats. Still, I have my faves. Here are the must-trys:
Guacamole & Brie Crostini: This appetizer is heaven on a slice of toasted sourdough awesomeness. The crunchy-chewy baguette is generously topped with a bright house-made guac, just-melted rich brie and sundried tomatoes. Dollop on the so-good chipotle sauce served alongside and you have a mildly-spicy, totally satisfying plate of deliciousness that could serve equally well as a perfect meal when paired with Wolf Creek's Golden Eagle Ale. The uber-refreshing, flavorful blonde has a clean malt flavor with just a touch of mild hop bitterness.
Leonardo Pizza: One of the best pizzas in the SCV can be found at Wolf Creek, and it's thanks to the just-made, hand-crafted dough. This pie is thin, but the mildy-sour flavor and great crispy-chewy texture of the crust add a layer of richness you just don't get from a dial-and-deliver joint. The Leonardo is my favorite; it's a pepperoni pizza, but way better. The unexpected, juicy bites of chicken, chili flakes, fresh tomatoes and hand-torn basil bump this baby into the "crave it" category. I love pairing it with Wolf Creek's giant red house sangria.
So cold, so fruity, so yum!
Seared Ahi Salad: This is Seared Ahi Salad weather, friends. I can't get enough of the bright and light ginger-citrus vinaigrette dressing that's the highlight of the fresh baby-lettuce, mushroom, tomato and sprout mix. Add in a daily-delivered portion of Wolf Creek's delicate sesame-crusted ahi and rice noodles and you're in heaven.
Chicken Crustada: Meet my definition of comfort food, dear readers. My blood pressure drops 10 points every time my server places this dish in front of me. It has it all: a creamy sundried-tomato pesto sauce made from scratch, al dente linguini noodles and a moist, panko-crusted sauteed chicken breast.
It's called "Wolf Creek Restaurant & Brewery" for a reason - and while "brewery" may be the second part of the name, it's never an afterthought. Wolf Creek has won numerous local, regional and national awards for its brews and now operates the only on-site functioning brewery in the SCV. Drop into the Valencia Industrial Center spot to hang with friends, munch on snacks, play games and discover newly-brewed favorites with the Sampler - six four-ounce glasses. (Mine is the Midnight Howl Black Ale, a blend of an IPA and a stout that is so dark
and so good
