Community In Focus
January, 2019 - Issue #172

"We wanted to help brighten the lives of our community's retired heroes by providing a fresh coat of paint to the places they call home. We hope to bring a little painting happiness to these local heroes who have already given so much,"
Josh Abramson, Chief Solutionist at ALLBRiGHT 1-800-PAINTING
FOUR LOCAL HEROES RECEIVE HOME PAINTING MAKEOVER
On Saturday, November 17, members of the ALLBRiGHT 1-800-PAINTING Happiness Team worked tirelessly to beautify and restore four homes with a fresh coat of paint, each owned by local retired heroes.

Earlier this year, the company asked the community to nominate retired police officers, firefighters, EMTs and retired military personal for their 13th-annual Paint-It-Forward charity event.

After nominations were received, website users voted up four top stories, each more moving than the last. Due to the outpouring of support each nominee received during the voting process, the company committed to painting all four nominees' homes at the same time.

The recipients of the giveaway were United States Marine Corps Veteran Dominic Macaya, United States Marine Corps Veteran Ronald L. Graham, Retired Police Officer Marc Manfro and United States Army Veteran Kimberlin R. Bain.

Since completing the first Paint-It-Forward 13 years ago, and now with other painting contractors joining the movement, ALLBRiGHT 1-800-PAINTING's combined efforts have reached a goal of over $1,000,000 worth of free painting services and materials delivered to communities across the US and Canada. Past Paint-It-Forward recipients include The Children's Hunger Fund, SCV Food Pantry and many more.

GIVE WHERE YOU LIVE SCV
Support your Favorite Nonprofits this Holiday Season

It's the most wonderful time of the year - and also a time to be thoughtful toward those in need. Making a charitable contribution is an important part of the giving season. Beyond the warm and fuzzy feeling or the incentive of a tax deduction for a year-end donation, countless nonprofit organizations rely upon the support of caring individuals and businesses to sustain their operations and further their mission. In response to the growing needs of nonprofit partners - Carousel Ranch, Boys and Girls Club of SCV, Samuel Dixon Family Health Center, College of the Canyons Foundation, Santa Clarita Valley Family YMCA and the SCV Senior Center - Mission Valley Bank hosts the Give Where You Live SCV initiative. Each month, the community bank features a nonprofit client on its website, in advertising and articles, and throughout its social media platforms. Bringing awareness to the needs and work of these organizations -- while connecting each cause with residents -- strengthens the community. Discover a charity or service club that fits your vision or one that speaks to your heart. Aside from year-end giving, think about making regular contributions to the charity of your choice throughout the year, which can be more effective in the long run. Be creative when doing a little extra good.
