Congratulations to the Class of 2013! Find out why Saugus grads are going places.
We all know that summer is supposed to be fun - but sometimes trying to plan for it is anything but. No worries, Mom and Dad. We've got your back - and so does Santa Clarita's best kid-friendly schools and camps.
Summer is right around the corner - and we have the low down on the best kid camps in the SCV
Santa Clarita has some of the best public schools around, but that hasn't stopped an increasing number of parents from deciding to send their children to a private or charter school. Here's a snapshot of some of the best to help you on your journey.
When you think, "improve your child's reading skills," do you think about flash cards or back flips? When you plan on ways to help your son or daughter grow their love for math, do you knit a sweater or knit your brow (and then hire a stern tutor)? Science has shown that extracurricular activities - what moms and dads in the highly-competitive year of 2012 often construe as "just for fun" - can actually build brain pathways that work to enhance academic performance. You may see higher grades after engaging your child in these activities, but the only thing they'll see is a good time (and more friends, less stress, better health...!).
This month, we're feeling grateful for summer vacation. The kids will be back to school before you know it (Hence, our Back to School preview.).
Summer's the perfect time for a family vacation, but what do you do when your four-footed family member isn't welcome at the hotel, camp site or a relative's house? You'll need to decide whether or not Fido will be hanging out at home or boarded while you're gone.
I am an early riser. I guess I've always liked to get up before the crack of dawn, brew a pot of coffee, let the dogs out and read the morning news all in the peace and quiet of a home and neighborhood still fast asleep.
JACK RUSSELL WANTS TO MELT YOUR HEART AND LICK YOUR FACE
I may be small, but I like my kisses super-sized. Just like Clark Gable, I'm a gentleman. Sure, I'm only 2 or 3 years old, but I have lots of experience being a good boy on walks and while playing - indoors and out. Folks say that my eyes are my best feature - wouldn't you like to stare into them? I may be your Puppy Soul Mate!
Anyone who has ever tried it will tell you that starting your own business is a scary proposition. Most waged their own private war with doubt. Am I doing the right thing? I know I have a valuable service, but how do I let the community know about it? Is there a niche for my business here in Santa Clarita? Those are fair questions - questions every local budding entrepreneur and businesses owner should ask, must ask, really. And they do.
SWEET 7-YEAR-OLD SEEKING SPECIAL PERSON TO KISS IN THE PARK
Me: I'm Annie! I love to run, roll around in the grass and give lots and lots of kisses. I've had it kinda rough, so it takes me a little while to get to know you, but once I do, I'm yours forever. You: Not afraid of my pit bull mix breed (I'm a lover, not a fighter!) and ready to make me the only pup in the palace. Please come meet me!
I recently adopted two Labrador puppies - a brother and sister. The black female and chocolate male came to my house after my youngest son started his second year of college. The adoption was made while my husband was out of town. I like to say I surprised him when he came home, and surprised he was. Aren't they cute, I asked? Of course, he said, all puppies are cute, but they grow up and they chew and they dig their way out of yards and weren't we going to do some traveling once the kids left home?
