Skate Park Safety Smarts
Many extreme sports enthusiasts love spending their time at the skate park, but this can often end in disaster. Skate parks are especially dangerous when a skater is not wearing the proper padding at the skate park. This can facilitate a traumatic brain injury, a spinal cord injury or a broken bone.

At some skate parks, there is no one to blame for an accident but the victim. This is especially true if there are signs at the park that warn all riders that they need to wear the proper padding, a helmet and exercise caution when in the park. Some skate parks even have signs which declare that the city is not responsible for any injuries that occur because of a person's failure to maintain balance in the park.

Yet there are some situations where the skate park can be held responsible for any injuries that happen there. If a skate park has no signs to warn riders of the dangers and precautions that must be taken, and if you never signed an agreement form before entering into the park which declares that you will not sue the skate park for any reason, then you may have the right to seek compensation.

You can also typically seek compensation at any skate park if you were injured because of an obvious danger that was preventable. For example, if one of the bars in the skate park was broken, and you stumbled and fell onto that bar, incurring an injury, then you may be able to sue because the skate park was not properly maintained. If your accident was because of an irregular surface such as cracks in the concrete that caused you to stumble or potholes and raised concrete, then these may be legitimate reasons to seek compensation.

According to Spectrum Health, it is very important that skate park users wear a strapped helmet, elbow pads, wrist guards and knee pads. If any of these products fail to protect a person from an accident, especially a helmet, and you believe it is because of a product liability error, then you may have the right to seek compensation from those involved.

If you need more information about skate park injuries or believe that you may have a legitimate claim and want to discuss it with a Santa Clarita personal injury lawyer, contact The Law Offices of Gerald L. Marcus for more information. 296-2992 www.santaclaritainjuryattorney.com

Kids and Families
Stay Active, Stay Healthy

People of all ages can improve the quality of their lives and reduce the risks of developing coronary heart disease, hypertension, some cancers and Type 2 diabetes with ongoing participation in moderate physical activity and exercise. Daily exercise will also enhance one's mental wellbeing and promote healthy musculoskeletal function throughout life. Although habitual physical activity is an attainable goal on the path to a healthier life, right now more than half of US adults do not get more than 30 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise per day at least five days per week.

The Paseo Club offers something for everyone to make exercise fun and active. If you like it, you're more apt to do it! They offer 50 high- and low-impact group exercise classes like Yoga, Zumba, Insanity, Turbo Kick Box, Cycle and Treadmill classes. Fitness programs at The Paseo Club involve progressively-increasing intensities of exercise that will elicit even greater cardio-protective benefits.

If being inside isn't on your agenda, they also offer a Master's Swim class that is wonderful for all levels. Try their tennis beginner classes, private lessons and their competitive tennis league to meet new people. 257-0044
