Tips to Get You through a Long-Distance Move
It is possible to tackle a long-distance move with the greatest of ease with these tips:
Select a moving company that will handle your belongings from beginning to end. Long-distance services provided via van lines require many subsidiaries to complete your move. Often, your items will be placed on hold until a truck can be filled with multiple shipments, will travel hundreds of extra miles and may be handled multiple times. If you go this route, be sure to do your research on each subsidiary that will handle your items.

Use new/hardly used packing materials and include extra padding around fragile items to withstand the extra miles on the road. If you are moving with a van line clearly label your boxes with your family name to ensure delivery to the right address.

Empty and defrost your refrigerator and place baking soda inside for the long trip.

Book hotels and flights for the journey. Service your car. Pack what you'll need until your moving van arrives. It could be over a month before your van line arrives.

Discuss all your moving insurance options with your mover to be sure to select the best option for your particular needs.

Transfer important documents as well as the contents of all safety deposit boxes.

Obtain payment according to the specific requirements of your long-distance mover.

Proper Designations Equate to Homeowner Association Success
In the industry of community management, a manager that has continued their education and received specific designations can be vital to the success of the HOA. The board of directors needs to know that the manager of their community is fully equipped to handle the tasks presented to them, regardless of what situation may arise. There are a few designations that a manager can achieve, which are important as it increases their knowledge and understanding about the industry.

The first designation that any managing agent should acquire is the Certified Manager of Community Associations (CMCA). The CMCA is the only national certification program that is geared strictly for HOA Community Managers. In order for a manager to obtain this first designation they must demonstrate a knowledge and expertise in many key areas such as risk management, insurance, contracts and meeting management and many others.

The Association Management Specialist (AMS) designation not only provides the manager with a higher knowledge of the industry, but also shows a commitment level to the community that is above the CMCA designation. In order for this designation to be reached, the manager must succeed in this community management for a minimum of two years. The manager must also pass the required advanced-level classes.
Finally, the Professional Community Association Manager (PCAM) is the highest designation that a community manager can achieve that is nationally recognized. In order to receive this designation the manager must pass all of the advanced-level classes, as well as complete a case study.

With the help of a community manager that has proper designation, the association will have a much higher chance for success.
