From Ashes to Joy
How Hyatt Saved a Wedding Lost in the Fires

Shares the event team at Hyatt Regency Valencia:
"We at the Hyatt Regency Valencia saw heartbreak and triumph as fire refugees were displaced through our doors.
One story caught our attention and highlighted the importance of community effort and positive spirits. Bride Markie Burns was originally planning on tying the knot at Brookview Ranch.
Unfortunately, the flames of the massive fire that hit Malibu engulfed her venue and caused Markie and fiance Blake, as well as her entire wedding party, to evacuate.

Since Blake and Markie are SCV residents, they headed 'home' to the Hyatt - and took their loved ones with them. Guests flooded through the doors of our hotel, convinced that the celebration would be cancelled.

In a moment of fearless alacrity, Markie and her wedding planner decided to plan an entirely new wedding here - in less than 8 hours. Haley Simon, event planner, said: 'Miraculously, the Hyatt Regency Valencia opened their doors and graciously helped us put together a wedding within a few hours!'

With great effort, dedication and amazing community partnership, our staff and the bridal party were able to design a wedding that rivaled the original. In fact, Markie remarked that it was a, 'beautiful wedding that looked like it was meant to be the whole time.' Our team was amazed at the dedication demonstrated not just within our staff but within the entire community.

We were honored to have the opportunity to put our flexibility and teamwork on display for this very special couple. Congratulations to Markie and Blake on the wedding, and story, of a lifetime! Cheers!"

We Love: Charmaine's Bouquet Canyon Florist
Charmaine's is more than an SCV mainstay; this small-town florist is the "flower in the hair" of Santa Clarita because Charmaine and her team are deeply embedded in the fabric of our community. Brides and grooms flock to this unassuming spot for more than just loyalty, though. Charmaine is the "event whisperer," able to create designs that are so closely customized to her client's wishes, they often say, "She's in our heads!" And while her shop beautifies hundreds of high-end weddings and events a year, she's also known for "big wows" on small budgets, thanks to her creativity and knowledge of seasonal sales. Consults are complimentary.
