•  Santaland Diaries - The Repertory East Playhouse presents Santaland Diaries & Season's Greetings Sponsored by Wells Fargo Home Mortgage

The Santaland Diaries is a brilliant evocation of what a slacker's Christmas must feel like. Out of work, our slacker decides to become a Macy's elf during the holiday crunch. At first the job is simply humiliating, but once the thousands of visitors start pouring through Santa's workshop, he becomes battle weary and bitter. Taking consolation in the fact that some of the other elves were television extras on One Life to Live, he grins and bears it, occasionally taking out his frustrations on the children and parents alike. The piece ends with yet another Santa being ushered into the workshop, but this one is different from the lecherous or drunken ones with whom he has had to work. This Santa actually seems to care about and love the children who come to see him, startling our hero into an uncharacteristic moment of goodwill just before his employment runs out. Along with Santaland Diaries, comes TWO hilarious monologues that will have you bending over with laughter. Season's Greetings and Front Row Center With Thadeuss Bristol are two funny, touching - and twisted - monologues about the holiday season.

Performances will run Fridays, Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 2pm beginning November 17th through December 23rd. Tickets are $14 for Students and Seniors and $16 for Adults. GROUP RATES ARE AVAILABLE! The Repertory East Playhouse is located at 24266 San Fernando Road in Old Town Newhall.

•  The Hanukkah Health Fair - Santa Clarita's Congregation Beth Shalom and Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital proudly present a one-of-a-kind, cutting edge holiday event: The Hanukkah Health Fair. Dedicated to the proposition that there is more to this holiday than simple overindulgence, our celebration combines fun and fitness for the whole family. At the hospital campus (23845 McBean Parkway Valencia, CA 91355) we will reinforce the twin messages that: (1) holiday health is enjoyable, not daunting; and (2) family time promotes better physical and emotional well-being. Israeli Dancing and Hannukah-robics—to build Maccabee-sized muscles—are among the innovative programs we will combine with our traditional menorah-lighting and sing-a-long. For the children, there will be crafts and face-painting. For the adults there will be health screenings, breast cancer awareness information, blood pressure readings and fitness assessments. A Lite-Latke Demonstration, "Hanukkah Ha-Ha"s (seasonal humor), a food drive and special appearances by some of Santa Clarita's finest first- responders will round out an afternoon that highlights physical, spiritual and community health. Join CBS and HMNMH if you want your holiday season to be about success, not excess.
Time: 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM
