•  Mel Carll Photography Exhibit - Inside SCV Magazine photographer Mel Carll's art exhibit opens at the Canyon Country Jo Anne Darcy Library on August 2. Called, "The Ground Beneath Me; Not Above Me, So Enjoy Life...," the exhibit explores Carll's battle with cancer and radiation - and his choice to find the bright side. This display is full of hope, positivity and a love of life - and runs through December 3.

•  Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery - CTG Presents "Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery" Intrepid investigators try to escape a dizzying web of clues, silly accents, disguises and deceit. Does a wild hellhound prowl the moors of Devonshire? Can the heroes discover the truth in time? Join the fun and see how far from elementary the truth can be.

•  Peter & the Star Catcher - Canyon Theatre Guild Presents "Peter & the Starcatcher" From pirates on the high seas to dangers in the jungle, this swashbuckling adventure tells the tale of Peter Pan's magical beginnings.

•  Cancer Fundraiser - Flair Cares About Curing Cancer Fundraiser is working to build awareness and raise funds to help cure breast, colon, prostate, and pediatric cancers throughout October. Customers and community members can donate all month at all four Flair Cleaners locations. 100% of all donations will go directly to these nonprofits as specified by customers. Flair will match the total donations up to $5,000 for the campaign.

•  Walk to End Alzheimer's - Raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer's care, support and research at this annual event held at Bridgeport Park.

•  SCV Senior Center Touch-A-Truck - The SCV Senior Center's Touch-A-Truck event is a landmark event for children and adults who are intrigued with vehicles of all sorts and uses. What child, or adult for that matter, wouldn't want to climb on a fire engine, turn on a Sheriff's or CHP vehicle siren or take a photo with a favorite movie vehicle? That's the premise behind Touch-A-Truck, coming to Santa Clarita's Central Park. In addition, the committee is working on kid-friendly activities like face painting, arts and crafts, bubbles, model building and more - all free with event admission. Food trucks will offer meals and delicious treats to purchase and several booths will offer free ice cream.

•  Pumpkin Patch at Limoneira Ranch - Head to Santa Paula for the Pumpkin Patch at Limoneira Ranch
A short, gorgeous drive on the 126 will get you to our favorite out-of-town Halloween event: The Pumpkin Patch at Limoneira Ranch. Benefiting the Rotary Club of Santa Paula, this expansive event features a wide variety of things to see and do. Get your "fall fix" with hay-wagon rides through lemon groves, a hay pyramid and maze, petting zoo, music, entertainment, games, pony rides, face painting, a pumpkin chucker, food booths, 5.5-acre corn maize and more. •  Bow Wows & Meows Pet Fair - Hundreds of dogs, cats, puppies and kittens will be available for adoption at the 19th Annual Bow-Wows & Meows Pet Fair held at Newhall's William S. Hart Park on Sunday, October 13! Bring your fur-babes! Well-behaved dogs of any breed may accompany their owner to the fair provided they are leashed (non-retractable), at least 18 weeks of age and fully vaccinated.

Entrance to the family-friendly fair is free and activities include:

•  Day of the Bison Open House - Join Natural History Museum LA for a day of exploration at the Hart Museum. •  Harvest Festival at Christ Lutheran Church - Join Christ Lutheran Church for their 21st Annual Harvest Festival - Complete with Chili Cookoff, pie eating contest, pony rides, free food, games, activities and more! Bring your old coats - there will be a coat drive benefiting House of Joy, and non-scary costumes are encouraged, but not required.

•  David Spade - This multi-talented comedian, actor, writer and television personality brings a night of comedy to the Santa Clarita Valley. Rising to fame as a cast member of "Saturday Night Live," Spade developed the famous "Hollywood Minute" reporter segments, later going on to star in movies such as "Joe Dirt," "Tommy Boy" and "Grown Ups."

•  VIA Black & White Bash - BASH has become Santa Clarita's who's-who premier business event and this year promises to be over the top. Themed decor, fine dining and live entertainment and dancing make this signature event a must attend. As part of the evening's festivities, VIA celebrates the diversity and accomplishments of its members. Awards are given to those individuals and members of distinction deserving in one of several categories: the Connie Worden-Roberts Volunteer of the Year, VIA Business of the Year and VIA Rising Star. The VIA BASH benefits VIA's Connecting to Success, a privately-funded program that offers important workplace readiness skills to high school students. This signature program trains more than 2,500 high school students annually from all area high schools.

•  Wildcat Classic - West Ranch High School is proud to present the 11th annual Wildcat Classic, a daylong display of
musical artistry. More than 20 high school bands from the Santa Clarita Valley and around the region will gather for the Southern California School Band and Orchestra (SCSBOA) Marching Band Competition. Each high school band will compete by division followed by an astounding showcase performance of the three-time state champion West Ranch Band and Colorguard.
