Most Inside SCV staff members are somewhere in our 30s. Like most SCVians, we try to take good care of our bodies and our appearance - so you can imagine the discussions that have evolved over the years as the calendar pages fly past at top speed, our wrinkles deepen and our skin starts to lose that youthful bounce.
Say "goodbye" to zits with smart at-home and professional skin care.
Not too long ago, women and men treated their penchant for Botox as a secret to be guarded like their life was on the line. But the days of "Did she or didn't she?" are coming to a close as more and more Americans consider injectables to be on par with other self-care treatments like laser resurfacing or even a "really good facial." The cat's out of the bag, as the common phrase goes, and so too are syringes filled with wrinkle reducers, line fillers and lip plumpers. And, because of their no-down-time status, pre-holiday-party season is the time to witness firsthand the science of beauty. Whether you want to give injectables a try or are hoping for something a little more permanent, 'tis the season!
We just want to look significantly younger, thinner and prettier before the first holiday party of the season. Is that too much to ask? Thankfully, according to local experts, the answer is "not at all." Ladies and gentlemen, it looks like Christmas is coming early this year - and in the form of lasers, razors, syringes, makeup and more.
Wrinkle prevention and, if not "elimination" than at least "minimalization," is top of mind for both women and men alike. Looking less than our age has proven to not only be a boost to our confidence but also to our bottom line; many people have undergone dramatic treatments in order to remain competitive in the workplace.
Whether you want a sun-kissed visage for a day, a week or longer, we've compiled the best tanning options around.
One of the more common telltale signs of aging is thinning of the lips. The natural volume loss that occurs in most people's lips can, by itself, make you appear five to 10 years older. Add to this the small vertical lines above and/or below the lips, known as "smoker's lines," and more years accumulate on your face.
Go on, you're amongst friends.
You can tell us. And we won't tell a soul.
You want to look younger. Fresher. Smoother.
We get it. We do, too.
My mom's a wise woman. A mother to four, she knows the ins and outs of pregnancy, nursing and childrearing. Which is why I worried, just a little, when she uttered this: "You are never going to look the same after you have this baby. You know that, right?"
Autumn is the time to repair the damage caused to your skin during Summer. You should change your facial cleanser to one with exfoliants to remove dead skin cells. Before you apply your makeup, use a rich moisturizer and apply a vitamin C serum. Vitamin C helps repair sun-damaged skin and reduces fine lines, wrinkles, age spots and freckles.
Oh, cruel irony. What the sun giveth, the sun taketh away. The "youthful sunkissed glow" quickly evolves into darkspots, crowsfeet and an appointment with a dermatologist to make sure that mole isn't something nefarious. Bronzed limbs become ground zero for dry, flakey, ashy skin. Naturally-highlighted hair looks gorgeous - until it starts splitting and breaking.
Two natural births and one dream of a tummy tuck later (Oh, if it wasn't only a dream!), I find myself stuck between a bikini and a hard place (aka: the "Grandma" suit I donned last season). Determined not to again encase my still-youngish body in yards of swim-skirt fabric and a heavy cloak of flabby-butt-induced shame, I turned to local businesses to find my way back to "bikini beautiful" (though I'm cool with settling for "tankini tight").

Tidbits of Beauty Tips just for you...
Maybe a Euro-punk salon is totally you. And, just maybe, it isn't. (No offense, Euro-punks!). Which is why we've created this guide - to save you from (or deliver you to) hot-pink highlights. Just think of us as your personal beauty matchmaker. (Because isn't finding the right stylist or esthetician just as important as finding the right spouse?)
From Party-perfect Treatments you NEED to know to the Timeline that will have you Turning Heads in no time at all - We have your go-to guide for looking your best this season!
Despite current downturns and shakeups, the world continues on its axis and each of us must make whatever changes are individually necessary to get through this transitional period. That shouldn't include neglecting oneself, however.

Whether you're on Wall Street or Main Street, one of the best long-term investments you will ever make is helping yourself look and feel better. We asked local experts to tell us about an exceptional service or product that users consider well worth the cash. Here are their answers.
When a bride walks down the aisle, her thoughts should blissfully focus on her beloved spouse-to-be - not her legs, or bosom, or makeup, or hair, or how her skin or teeth will appear in the wedding photographs.
A wide assortment of aesthetic treatments are available that can help any bride look and feel spectacular. And for those who are feeling the economic crunch (who isn't?), many of these procedures are wallet-friendly.
Eventually, it happens to everyone: Time, genes, and gravity have their say. One day, our faces are young and firm. The next, not so much.
Included in those eventual changes are wrinkles, sagging, expression marks - and jowls! Found along the bottom part of the face and jaw line, jowls are a fullness or looseness that definitely suggest the aging process is on board.
