The 2012 Bridal Trend Report

Popular Silhouettes
A-line
We're starting to see a return to the classic A-line shape, with dresses that are fitted at the natural waist and have fuller bell-like skirts. Not only is this silhouette timeless, but it flatters most figures and body types as well.

Mermaid
The modified mermaid shape is also very popular for this season. Fitted from the bust throughout mid-thigh, it emphasizes curves and flares out in a trumpet shape for a dramatic look.

Details and Embellishments
Fabric
Fabrics like chiffon and organza show off architectural and textural details while still remaining soft and airy.

Texture
Crinkled chiffon skirts, fine pleats and layers, rosettes in varying sizes and other modern detailing can add a textural element.

Belts
For a little extra personalization, belts can easily change the entire look of a gown. Colored belts add contrast while defining the waistline. Incorporate colors from your wedding, or use one in black for instant drama. Embellished belts with crystals and beading add a touch of luxury.
The 2012 bridal collections from designers La Soie, Enzoani and Blue by Enzoani are currently available at La Soie Bridal Valencia with a price point of about $1,100 to $2,700; 288-1989

Love in Bloom
Something Old...
Honor your past as you begin the "present" as husband and wife. Brides from every culture are choosing to add very meaningful, personal additions to their bouquets. Perhaps your grandmother's favorite broach would make a gorgeous - and sentimental addition - to your flowers? Our brides have incorporated jewelry, hankies - even small prayer books - into their bouquet. And don't leave your treasured bridesmaids out on the experience; sisters, cousins and dear friends will also benefit from an heirloom addition to their flowers.

& Something New
The concept of "texture" has never been more important in the bridal world. You'll see this word pop up in reference to many trend-setting bride's wedding elements, ranging from hair styles and gown details to - of course - the flowers. We create depth, dimension and the much-coveted "texture" by designing what we call the "high-low look." We achieve this look by mixing tall and shorter centerpieces throughout the room. It takes a real attention to detail to make the look "work" - instead of appear haphazard. But with a practiced eye, the "high-low look" will completely change the ambience of your space for the better.

Did Santa Bring You Something Sparkly this Season?
It's no secret: The holidays are one of the most popular times to pop the question. If you were one of the many to get engaged this season, congratulations! May we suggest that you celebrate by attending upcoming event-planning seminars? Bring your betrothed, too. (Because nothing says "romance" like debating the pros and cons of an open bar together.)
