How did you determine the name of your school? We wanted a name that describes our mission to educate, train and impact the next generation. We want to leave a legacy to the children we teach and the families we serve.

What inspired you to start Legacy? We love children and love helping families in the parenting process. We felt we could create an educational culture that was a lot better than what we experienced as teachers in the public school. There are a lot of good things that public school can offer some children. However, we wanted a focus on "quality education and academic acceleration." Our program eliminates three big factors: non-English speaking students; behavior problem students and severely learning-deficient students. This gives our teachers a homogeneous group to teach and we can bring them along quicker and provide more depth.

What's the best aspect of your work? The kids! When I am in need of a "kid fix" I just head for the playground. I can leave the adult world for awhile and have some fun.

What's particularly special about Legacy? LCA offers an accelerated curriculum - a comprehensive enrichment program which includes specialty teachers and instruction in Computer Science, Spanish, Music, Art, P.E. and the Bible. There is an advanced learning program for gifted students and an intramural sports program that public schools do not offer, as well. Our students achieve the highest standardized test scores in the SCV. We are consistently in the 90th percentile. All this is found in a distinctly Christian school environment! We teach a biblical world view to our students.

What does the future hold for Legacy? We are adding eighth grade next year. We hope to locate some land and build a comprehensive Christian High School.
