Do Not Pass "Go" - Do Not Collect $200 Monopoly Mania Coming to Santa Clarita

The Santa Clarita Valley School and Business Alliance is currently seeking sponsors for Santa Clarita Valley's newest fundraising event: SCV MONOPOLY® Mania. An evening of competitive game play, food and fun will be held January 15, 2005. Funds raised at the event will benefit Alliance programs such as internships, job shadowing and mentoring.

Property sponsorships range from $2,500 for Boardwalk to $250 for Baltic Avenue. Silent auction items are also being sought. Admission is $65 for players, $40 for non-players. Grants for Entrepreneurial Girls

The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America has announced the launch of the 2005 Girls Going Places Scholarship Program, a national competition that recognizes and rewards entrepreneurial girls between the ages of 12 and 18. Guardian and Girls Going Places will award 15 girls a total of $30,000 to be used toward furthering their education and supporting their entrepreneurial pursuits.

Adults are asked to nominate girls (who could be their daughter, niece, neighbor or student) by submitting a 750- to 1,000-word essay on why the nominee deserves a Girls Going Places award. A panel of judges will review the essays and pick finalists that demonstrate budding entrepreneurship and/or financial acumen; have taken the first steps toward financial independence; make a difference in their school or community; and show potential for future success by initiating a new business.

Charitable Planned Giving Program Good for Givers and Nonprofits

Jerry Citarella, Pacific Advisors, Inc., is bringing a proven plan of action for planned giving to Santa Clarita, and it benefits donors and nonprofit organizations alike. A "planned gift" utilizes a beneficiary, creates an immediate and/or future tax deduction and requires the assistance of an advisor or a professional.

Citarella is hoping to help local organizations obtain a systematic and successful turn-key solution to obtaining gifts. To date he and his company have generated over $100-million in planned gifts for their partner organizations. He is confident that local groups will be able to have a sound financial future through this mode of gift-giving.

According to Citarella, "We live in a very charitable, giving community. Unfortunately many of the organizations feel that the resources are tapped. My hope is that I can show some how to obtain more for their organization than ever before in a way that greatly benefits the donor and doesn't exhaust their immediate resources any more than they already are."
