See You at THE BASH!
The VIA BASH has become one of the must-attend business events in the Santa Clarita Valley. On Friday, October 27 at the Hyatt Regency Valencia, guests will relive the days of early Hollywood in the 1940s as the Valley Industry Association takes them back in time to the Hollywood Canteen "where the greatest generation danced with the most beautiful girls in the world." The retro-themed evening will be complete with decor reminiscent of the period and the entertaining sounds of The Summit.

What made the canteen spectacular were the hundreds of stars who volunteered their services at the canteen - everything from serving snacks to dancing as partners on the floor. Celebrities such as Bette Davis, Joan Crawford, Spencer Tracy, Marlene Dietrich, Rita Hayworth, Cary Grant, Irene Manning, Mickey Rooney, Linda Darnell, Claire James, John Garfield, Merle Oberon, Hedda Hopper, Mary Gordon, Dinah Shore, Jess Parker, Red Skelton, Cary Grant, Paulette Goddard and Joan Leslie were but a few who tirelessly volunteered their time at the Hollywood Canteen. Under the financial leadership of Jules Stein, materials for repairs and decorations, and actual labor were donated by members of the 14 guilds and unions of the industry. Artists and cartoonists painted murals on the walls. It was a labor of love by all those involved.

Keeping in theme, VIA is offering Gold Star General sponsorships available before the event to benefit the VIA Education Foundation. For each gold star donation made it helps fund the cost for sending students to Connecting to Success, a workplace readiness program training 2,500 high school juniors annually from all area high schools. Students learn financial literacy, business ethics and communicating their value in the half-day workshop.

As part of the evening's festivities, VIA honors and showcases businesses within Santa Clarita by celebrating the diversity and accomplishments of its members. Awards are given to those individuals and members of distinction deserving in one of three categories: Business of the Year, Rising Star and the Connie Worden-Roberts Volunteer of the Year Award.

What Happens After a Car Accident
