Common Holiday Accidents & How to Avoid Them
While this is an exciting time for most, it's also important for families to consider safety issues as they prepare for holiday events. Accidents and injuries can still happen; in fact, some happen more during the holiday season. Knowing some of the most common could help prevent them and ensure you and your family stay safe.

Dangerous Driving and Road Conditions
Many of us will be making plans with friends and family for the holiday season. It's important to remember that texting while driving, as well as talking on the phone without a hands-free device, are both illegal in the state of California. While it can be tempting to get distracted with holiday planning while driving, you should have your full attention on the road while driving - the rest can wait.

Since many people will be traveling for the holiday season, the number of cars on the road will be much higher than normal, which can increase the risk of car collisions. In addition, the weather is colder and California receives more rain during the winter. With all these factors in mind, you can reduce the risk of accidents by reducing your speed and keeping full awareness to your driving.

Shopping Mishaps
The holidays are one of the all-time highest shopping seasons. Injuries in stores and malls are common during this time of year - always be aware of your surroundings and the actions of the people near you. It's also important to remember to keep speeds extremely low in crowded parking lots.

Fires & Burns
Overloaded electrical circuits increase significantly during this time of year, increasing the risk of a fire. The flammability of Christmas trees increases this risk, as well. Try not to leave your lights on constantly and unplug them during the late night or early morning.

Accidents and injuries are almost never anticipated, but in case they happen, reach out to an experienced injury attorney who can provide free consultations and work on contingency - so if you don't get compensated, you don't pay.

The All-new Mercedes 2020 CLA Makes for an Exceptional First Impression
Lean muscle leads the way forward from the clutter of other cars - and sets you apart from the pack. Your new CLA's sleek LED headlamps and a twin-power-dome hood sweep back from the sharknose grille, clearing the way for a profile that slices the wind and a panorama roof that embraces the sky.

The CLA 250 goes like it shows. A new-generation 221-hp turbo inline-four efficiently boosts power and torque. And its four-wheel independent suspension is crisp in corners and composed around town.

Say what you want: Your CLA listens, and responds. MBUX is easy to learn because it can learn you. Just say "Hey, Mercedes, it's cold in here," or "I need a coffee," and it can control many cabin features. Among them is the available MB-Navigation that can overlay instructions on live video of a turn.
Looking to make the best first impression? Look no further.

What You Should Know About Conservatorships
A conservatorship is where someone else is given the legal right and obligation to oversee someone's personal care and finances. Typically, a conservatorship is required when someone is unable to lawfully sign any legal documents, such as a power of attorney, to empower someone to act as their financial or healthcare agent.

If a conservatorship is granted, then the named conservator will have the duty and obligations to care for the conservatee from that date forward. This might include managing their person - where they live, what they eat, providing healthcare and more - and their finances, which could include managing all income and assets, paying expenses and liquidating assets to pay for care. The conservator will also need to provide regular accountings to the court about conservatorship activities.
Given the burden of getting a conservatorship, it is generally recommended that a power of attorney and advanced healthcare directive get signed well before they are needed.

Feeling Grateful is a Great Start
The science is clear: Gratitude improves moods, health and outcomes. After a crisis like our community just experienced, a lot of us are feeling extra grateful that there were no losses to human life and that damages, while devastating to those affected, were kept at a minimum thanks to our incredible firefighters and first-responder teams.

If you've been feeling grateful for all that you have, you might also be wondering about whether or not "all that you have" is adequately protected. After a fire, earthquake, flood or other emergency is a popular time to review your insurance coverage, but before the "next" emergency is always a better time! Take a moment to reach out to your insurance provider, or connect with a new one, to review your policies and get your coverage questions answered.
