Santa Clarita Business High Five
"Paul Davis Restoration of Santa Clarita WOULD GET 20 STARS if I could give it! I had a leak in my kitchen that caused substantial damage. That would be upsetting in normal times, but even more so during the COVID-19 pandemic. Their response and knowledge with the restoration was incredible. Equally important was their 'bedside manner' and ability to make me feel comfortable and as stress free as possible. In addition to their restoration knowledge, they are also ethical and stand-up human beings!"

In 2021, be Prepared for Anything
If 2020 taught us anything, it would be that preparation - whether that was enough toilet paper on hand or having the car packed and ready to go in case of a fire - is key.
Having trusted resources at the ready is always a good idea - because when luck changes for the worse, there's often little time to research and seek referrals.
One number we'll always have at the ready: The Law Offices of Gerald L. Marcus.
A celebrated injury firm, The Law Offices of Gerald L. Marcus put clients' needs first - and fight aggressively in their best interests. Take this example:
"Our client was riding his skateboard down a ramp from his dormitory at a private school when he entered onto the parking lot private roadway. He was struck by a car at a blind spot at the base of the ramp that was caused by an obstruction in the form of a large trash-bin enclosure.
He suffered very serious injuries to his right arm, including near amputation and reconstruction, and left finger amputation. Liability was denied and hotly disputed. We litigated this case and conducted extensive discovery, took 15 oral depositions and retained seven technical experts to reconstruct, animate and demonstrate the accident.
The one and only offer was $500,000 at the first mediation. We got ready for trial and attended a second mediation where we successfully negotiated a settlement for the sum of $4,500,000."

"There are already so many things to look forward to in 2021 - and the special membership incentives at The Saticoy Club
are just a few! SCV residents are flocking to the beach breezes and chill vibes of Ventura County. Our HISTORIC CLUB has all the modern amenities SoCal residents crave - with unparalleled views, cuisine and greens."

Estate Planning is a Great New Year's Resolution
New Year's Resolutions are an opportunity to improve your life. Resolving to get your estate plan in order is one of the best goals you can make. Here's why.
Estate planning is an achievable goal.
It is actionable, realistic and sustainable, three things every good resolution has.
You can get assistance.
Just like you would hire a personal trainer to help you get into shape, you can hire an estate planning attorney to guide you through the process.
Estate planning can relieve stress.
Most people report relief when they finally sign their estate plan, especially if they've been procrastinating over it.
Odds are you don't have your estate plan prepared.
Most people don't have any estate planning documents prepared. More than 60 percent of people die without so much as a simple will.
Preparing your estate plan puts you in control.
Through your plan, you will get to decide who is in charge of your affairs and how your estate will be distributed.

New Pandemic Legislation may Affect your Taxes
Recently passed coronavirus pandemic legislation has added tax-law changes for the 2020 tax year, including the following.
Stimulus payments are tied to your 2020 taxes, but built-in safeguards minimize the impact on your taxes.
The standard deduction ROSE for those married filing jointly to $24,800, up $400 from 2019.
Income ranges have increased for determining eligibility to make deductible contributions to traditional IRAs and Roth IRAs.
An important CARES Act provision allows you to deduct $300 in charitable contributions "above-the-line."

"INVESTMENTS IN REAL ESTATE are nearly always sound financial decisions - but in today's market, there's exciting, rare opportunities to be had. Working with an experienced Realtor who partners with you to identify opportunities that match your budget and financial goals can put tens of thousands more dollars in your pocket."

Investment Lessons from 2020
Over the past year, we've learned a lot about the social, political and physical forces that have affected everyone. But as an investor, what lessons can you learn from 2020?
Lesson 1
The markets generally look ahead.
Even though the pandemic has hit the economy hard, the financial markets, after plunging, recovered from the initial shock. That's because they're anticipating a stronger economic recovery in 2021.
Lesson 2
Opportunities often exist for investors, especially in times of market stress.
Smart investors look for opportunities and take advantage of them when appropriate.
Lesson 3
Stay invested.
Investors who jumped out of the market when it fell likely missed out on the rally that followed.
We probably won't see anything like 2020 again. But some of the investment lessons we learned are applicable in every year - so keep them in mind in 2021 and beyond.

"Car insurance rates just dropped - but when you work with a local agent who has YOUR BEST INTERESTS IN MIND, you get more service and value. It's a win worth celebrating in 2021!"

New Year's Resolutions for Insurance
The New Year is a perfect time to evaluate your insurance.
Auto: Do you have enough coverage? Are your limits high enough? Although there is a state minimum that you are legally required to have, most accidents will exceed that amount - leaving you to pay out of your pocket for the additional liability and property damages you may have caused.
Home: Have you remodeled the home this past year? You may want to consider increasing your dwelling reconstruction coverage to reflect the update/upgrades, so you are not underinsured.
Life: Do you have life insurance? If something happens to you, will your loved ones be able to survive/pay household expenses? Although it's the last thing we want to think about, it's crucial to protect your loved ones' ability to survive financially. You'll want to consider income replacement, mortgage payments and similar costs.

SCV Employment Corner Professional Caregiving
The aging population is growing, leaving more and more families with a growing need to care for their aging loved ones. But family caregivers can't do it all - not if they're coping with work, family and their own health issues. That's why the need for professional caregivers is growing.
A professional caregiver is someone whose career is to assist another person in a way that enables them to live as independently as possible. Professional caregivers can go by many different job titles. Home healthcare refers to care provided in the home by a licensed medical professional, such as a nurse or physical therapist. Non-medical in-home care focuses on helping older adults with the daily activities they need to engage in life and remain safe and healthy.
Professional caregivers who do not have a medical license generally can perform these tasks like feeding, bathing and have an extremely important job since they are on the front lines and provide direct care.
Being a professional caregiver can be a rewarding career, but is also heavy and hard work, tiring and lonely if you are not prepared.
At Home Instead, their goal is to help you learn professional skills so that you can feel confident whether you're a veteran refreshing your skills or you're new to caregiving.
