Walking in LA (County) can be Dangerous
Heavy foot-traffic areas are prominent throughout Los Angeles - and drivers not only forget that pedestrians have the right of way, but they forget that pedestrians are not afforded the same protections as drivers inside vehicles. In fact, pedestrian accidents are among the leading causes of fatal roadside accidents in the entire nation - and fatalities continue to increase.
We currently live in an age in which drivers are constantly barraged with technology and distractions. Although there are strict laws that forbid the use of hand-held devices while driving, many drivers still use cell phones or send texts.
Serious injuries and fatalities can happen in a split second. If you or a loved one have been injured because of careless driving behavior, you deserve justice - and the funds necessary to put your life back together.

Bianca Rose Berg Named Partner at Nick Rose Insurance Agency, Inc.
Nick Rose Insurance Agency, Inc. of Valencia, a family-run agency with 15 years of service to the Santa Clarita and surrounding areas, has named Bianca Rose Berg as partner.
Bianca Rose Berg joined the agency after high school, working closely with her father - owner Nick Rose - to improve the customer experience and surpass expectations. Because of this commitment to service, the agency has been warmly recognized by the community at large and the insurance industry. NRI has received many awards and accolades, including the recent prestigious Farmers Insurance Elite Agent Award for Business Insurance. As an Elite Agent, NRI is part of an exclusive group that makes up less than 1 percent of the Farmers Insurance agencies. The Rose family attributes much of this success to Bianca coming on board.
Bianca is a longtime resident of the Santa Clarita Valley. She attended Wiley Canyon Elementary, Placerita Junior High and Hart High School. After graduating from Hart, she attended College of the Canyons and later transferred to California State University, Northridge, where she earned her bachelor's degree in business finance.
With her eye for detail and personable nature, she continues to be an asset to NRI and the community she serves. "Watching Bianca grow up to be an incredible wife, mother and businesswoman has been such a point of pride. Now, as a partner at NRI, she is best positioned to make our business better beyond compare. I am excited to see what our agency can accomplish with her in this new role," says Nick Rose.
Nick Rose Insurance is the cornerstone agency for all insurance needs and uses a straightforward approach with no limits on coverage available for clients, including - but not limited to - business, workers' compensation, health, life, auto, homeowners, marine and much more.

Turning Over a "Newleaf"
by Paul Butler
Jared is a hard worker. He arrives 10 minutes before his shift starts. His belief is that he should be ready to begin his tasks right at the top of the hour, not walk through the front door as the big hand moves past the number 12.
Jared is grateful for his job. He has a spring in his step throughout his shift. His belief is that customers deserve his best service and that this will magnify itself through his attitude of gratitude.
Jared loves his job. He does every task to the best of his ability. His belief is that our work can be love made visible.
Jared is in his early 20s and obviously was raised by parents who taught him well. He understands the interdependence of working with others. If he doesn't finish all of his tasks during his shift, he tells his supervisor he'll stay behind to finish up without pay.
Jared gives me hope and inspires me to do my best at work. How about you? Let's all work like Jared.
Paul Butler, CIMA, CGMA, is the client partner at Newleaf Training and Development, an organization headquartered in Valencia that helps people and organizations better manage themselves, lead others and build business financial intelligence.

3 Myths of Estate Planning
Myth: Estate planning is only for rich people.
Most people think their estate is too small for an estate plan. Although smaller estates may not need complex planning, they do need some sort of planning. Modern estate planning is designed for those of modest means. Small estates might benefit the most because they cannot afford the high costs of a conservatorship or probate that is needed when no estate plan is created.
Myth: Estate planning can wait.
Many people put off preparing their estate plan for many years. Some wait until it's too late. Disaster can strike at any time. If you wait too long, you might not get an opportunity to create one. But once you create an estate plan, then it will last until you need or change it.
Myth: Estate planning is only about planning for death.
Planning for death is only one aspect of estate planning. A complete and well thought-out estate plan will take care of you during disability and incapacity. It puts order and organization into managing your affairs. It states your desires and intentions. And yes, it avoids the time-consuming and expensive process of probate.

What to Expect from a Financial Review
The COVID-19 pandemic is, hopefully, just a once-in-a-lifetime occurrence, but all sorts of events can rattle the investment world. And changes in your own life also can affect your plans. To prepare yourself for whatever tomorrow may hold, you may want to get some professional help.
A financial advisor will look holistically at your life - your family situation, your career, your hopes and dreams, your instincts about saving and spending money, your risk tolerance and other factors. So, during your initial meeting, and at subsequent reviews afterward, an advisor will discuss a variety of issues.
For example, are you making adequate progress toward your financial objectives? Have there been changes in your family, such as the arrival of a new child or the need to provide caregiving for elderly parents? Have you decided to change your retirement plans?
As you work toward your goals, you may find it challenging to navigate the financial markets and respond to the changes in your life - but you don't have to go it alone. And working with a financial advisor can help smooth your journey.
