Superheroes Save the Day at the Boys & Girls Club Auction
Co-chairs Mike and Ann-Marie Bjorkman invite you to the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley Benefit Auction: Superheroes! The auction is Santa Clarita's premier charitable event. Join them on Saturday, June 1 to support afterschool programs for local youth who need us the most. "This year we are 'Defending the Future for our Children,'" exclaims Board President and Auction Co-Chair Ann-Marie, "and the children of Santa Clarita need you!" All of the proceeds from this amazing event go directly to programs that impact the community by inspiring and enabling the next generation of leaders. Enjoy cocktails and conversation as you peruse over-a-hundred silent-auction items, savor a gourmet dinner and experience an incredible live auction that you won't forget. Go dressed for the occasion; this year's theme, superheroes, invites your inner child to play.
Founded in 1968, the Boys and Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley is providing a second home, supporting academic success and building leaders for over 5,000 local youth. Membership is just $60 a year for the first child and $45 for each additional sibling, with scholarships available. COC Helps Homeless Students RISE

College of the Canyons (COC) serves the Santa Clarita Valley as a vital, enduring, cultural, educational and economic force in the region. The COC Foundation generates philanthropic support for the college, allowing COC to perform beyond the achievement level that tax dollars alone can support and to strive for the highest levels of excellence in teaching, scholarship, vocational training and innovation. One of the Foundation's initiatives this year is RISE - Resources for Individual Success in Education - that strives to help students battling with homelessness. At its core, the program exists to improve access to higher education for current and former foster students and homeless youth; increase retention, graduation and transfer rates and promote student learning and development. At COC, approximately 200 students have self-identified themselves as struggling in this way. A $175 contribution outfits a homeless student with a "Campus Survival Kit" complete with basic personal care items, college school supplies, gift cards and snacks for food insecurity, transportation support and information to access services at the college and regionally. It's a tangible way to support and help students coping with an emerging personal crisis.
