Q: The time has finally arrived for the return of the iconic Cowboy Festival. What can residents look forward to?
The Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival is an annual highlight for many residents and fans across the country! After a three-year hiatus, we are thrilled to bring back the community favorite. This world-class event, which features the sights, sounds and style of cowboy life and Western culture, is scheduled for April 22 and 23, with a new urban venue for 2023 located on Main Street in Old Town Newhall.
General admission to the Cowboy Festival remains free and attendees will be treated to a variety of live music and entertainment on Main Street, as well as performances at The MAIN theater and other performing arts venues in Old Town Newhall. In addition, food and beverages will be available for purchase and guests can shop from vendors offering unique Western apparel, crafts and more.
The 2023 Cowboy Festival will be an urban take on a Western classic and feature favorite performers from festivals past as well as a slew of new musicians presenting Country Western, Folk and Bluegrass performances across three stages on Main Street. Additionally, there will be a limited number of VIP packages available for purchase. Details on VIP package amenities and pricing will be announced as they are finalized. Q: Many have noticed the various LioLi posters throughout the city. What is this new campaign about?
This unique and eye-catching campaign plays off the pharmaceutical style commercials with ads and videos. We teamed up with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station for a new twist on the Lock It or Lose It Campaign. LioLi (LEE-OH-LEE), is a new-and-improved theft prevention system, which stops thefts by targeting crimes of opportunity at the source with our patented "Lock It or Lose It" technology. By limiting access to your home or vehicle through the use of special vandal inhibitors, called "locks," cases of larceny-thefts have been known to decrease dramatically. LioLi works best when you lock your doors, hide your valuables under a seat or in the trunk and park in well-lit areas near high foot traffic. For more information on how to keep your valuables safe, log onto http://santa-clarita.com/lockitorloseit.

Q: Spring is here! What is the best way to enjoy the great outdoors and all the season has to offer here in Santa Clarita?
Our city is surrounded by more than 13,000 acres of preserved open space. As a hiker and mountain biker, one of my favorite activities is getting out on our trails with my children. Whether you prefer a more leisurely walk with your family, or you are determined to complete all of our city trails, there is something for every skill set and age. Most recently, the city has begun a monthly community hike to give residents the chance to explore new trails and make new friends. To learn more about the monthly community hikes, please visit hikesantaclarita.com. While on the website, you can also learn about the wildlife that calls our valley home, hiking safety tips, view maps and learn how to share the trails with everyone who enjoys them - including hikers, cyclists and equestrians.
