Support Bridge to Home's Goal of a Permanent, Year-round Shelter by Attending Soup for the Soul
Bridge to Home, the primary homeless services provider in the Santa Clarita Valley, invites the community to their premier fundraiser Soup for the Soul - All the Stars are Closer. This year's event will take place on Saturday, October 13 and will be bigger and better than ever before, as it will take place six stories up in the starry sky on the rooftop in Old Town Newhall.

This year's fundraiser is vital as Bridge to Home is in the process of making the dream of a permanent, year-round homeless shelter a reality. Join your friends on the beautiful new rooftop in Old Town Newhall for a night of scintillating wines, tempting appetizers, craft brews, steaming-hot soup, decadent desserts and so much more. As the stars sparkle overhead you will dine, enjoy live entertainment, an auction and learn about the mission of Bridge to Home and how you can help.

Restaurants that will take part in this delicious event include local favorites like Wolf Creek Restaurant & Brewing Co., Salt Creek Grille and Nothing Bundt Cakes, to name a few.

Bridge to Home provides support services - including an emergency winter shelter, case management, housing navigation and medical clinics - that help individuals and families in the Santa Clarita Valley transition out of homelessness. All these resources and services are available thanks to funds from the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority, subcontracts with Los Angeles Family Housing, private and public grants and extensive in-kind donations and participation from the local community.

Bridge to Home STATS
At time of print, there are about 600 clients the org is directly working with; about 375 are active at any given time - but many more are served through the evening meal program, Feeding it Forward.

In the nine months the shelter's not open, they serve dinner and offer showers every Tuesday through Friday night. Attendance is about 40 to 60 each night.

The number of women served is growing rapidly. In the county, about one-third of people experiencing homelessness are women.

The org is applying for funding to be able to open the shelter year round beginning February 2019.
