The Painted Turtle Presents Hawaiian Beach BBQ
Sending Children with Serious Medical Conditions to Camp for Free
August, 2016 - Issue #142
The Painted Turtle's North Los Angeles County Regional Advisory Board will host its 11th annual BBQ fundraiser on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at The Painted Turtle camp in Lake Hughes
(www.thepaintedturtle.org/hawaiianbeachbbq).

Santa Clarita community members are invited to attend this festive celebration which offers an exclusive tour of the campground, delicious food and cocktails, live music from The Hit Machine, and a boisterous live and silent auction with prizes ranging from a ride in the Goodyear Blimp to trips and autographed sports memorabilia. All proceeds from the event will benefit The Painted Turtle camp for children with serious medical conditions.

From its adaptive programming to its hospital outreach program, The Painted Turtle empowers children with life-threatening illnesses to gain independence and build a community where they are not alone. Since 2004, The Painted Turtle has provided year-round, life-changing experiences for over 41,000 children and their families. With the support of donors and fundraisers like the BBQ, campers and families are always able attend free of charge.

"We are excited to once again open our wooden gates for the 11th Annual BBQ fundraiser," said Chris Butler, Chief Executive Officer of The Painted Turtle. "We're proud to be a part of the Northern Los Angeles community and are grateful to our Regional Advisory Board for hosting an event that helps us engage our neighbors and show them the magic we do here at The Painted Turtle."

The Painted Turtle is a member of the Serious Fun Children's Network, an international family of camps founded by Paul Newman. The only medical camp of its kind in California, The Painted Turtle serves over 70 different medical illnesses for children. The organization's year-round, state-wide programming strives to give kids the opportunity to celebrate the simple joys of childhood.

"The annual BBQ is something I look forward to every year," said Tom DiPrima, Co-Chair of the North Los Angeles Regional Advisory Board for The Painted Turtle. "Between the incredible food, cocktails, auction items, and gorgeous scenery of camp, guests are guaranteed to have a great time while donating to a worthy cause. Some Santa Clarita residents have heard about The Painted Turtle but have never been able to see what really goes on there. This is their chance to explore and learn about the incredible non-profit that is in their own backyard."
