After a busy summer, we were feeling more Oktoberrest than Oktoberfest - until we saw the local lineup of Bavarian-themed events. Prost!

Go to The Local for...
a Killer "1st Birthday" Oktoberfest Party

If you've been to The Local Pub & Grill, you've learned that it's "extra" in all the right ways. Servers smile a little brighter and drinks served on their shiny marble bar are a little fancier. They don't just have sports on TV; they have seemingly every sport on over a dozen massive flatscreens. So, as you might expect, they aren't just having an Oktoberfest party - they're hosting the Oktoberfest party. In celebration of their one-year anniversary on Saturday, October 13, The Local's going global with a German Drink & Food Fair running all day long - and The Local Karaoke at night. It's going to be a lederhosen-spiked blast. 495-9192

Go to Wolf Creek Brewery for...
The Santa Clarita OktoberFest

Celebrating its fifth anniversary this year on Friday, October 19 and Saturday, October 20, the Santa Clarita Oktoberfest is a SoCal twist on the original Oktoberfest held annually in Munich, Bavaria, Germany. During the two-day tribute, a variety of German and German-style beers will be poured in and around the Crystal Palace Flemish Spiegeltent, adding to the authentic ambiance. German foods, music, and games - all with a California flavor - will complete your Munich-in-the-Santa-Clarita-Valley experience.

Go to Wolf Creek Restaurant & Brewing Company for...
Boozy Pumpkin Pie in a Glass

Ok, so this might be more "October" than "Oktoberfest," but Wolf Creek's handcrafted Pumpkinweizen makes the list, thanks to its Bavarian roots. Brewed with pumpkin, brown sugar, cinnamon stick, ginger, cloves, soft white wheat and a touch of caramel malt, this ale was made for fall. 263-9653

Go to JJ's for...
a Casual, Fun 'Fest & Authentic Eats
JJ's Bar & Grill's relaxed come-as-you-are ambiance lends well to the "Best of" bar establishment's Oktoberfest plan. First, because JJ's can't be rushed, and neither can you after you sink into one of their many booths, this party's going all month long. And second - if you're craving an unpresumptuous plate of real-German brats and 'kraut, go no where else... except the bar... to order one of their on-tap German brews. If you do decide to get up, and we don't advise it, there's darts and cornhole to keep you occupied. Like to combine your 'fest and your freakiest fun? Show up in costume on Halloween for an adults-only party with DJ, games, specials and plenty of unforgettable surprises.

Facts to Share with the Drunk Guy who doesn't Care
If you happen to find yourself locked in a conversational void with a fest goer who's gonna need Uber on speed dial, keep the one-sided chit chat going with these brilliant bits.
The first Oktoberfest was held in 1810, to honor the marriage of Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen and Prince Ludwig.
The only beer you'll find at the original Bavarian-traditional festival were brewed within the city limits of Munich.
Adidas released vomit-proof sneakers for the event a few years back; they sold out near instantly.
