I'm spoiled.
Not only has my sister lived on Oahu for the majority of the last two decades, but when we visit, she takes us to all the secret local spots you'll never find on TripAdvisor.
So, yeah... when it comes to authentic Hawaiian barbecue, I've had the opportunity to be picky - and that's why I'm so thrilled that there's a Q & Q Hawaiian BBQ in the SCV.
This place is the "real deal," right down to the unassuming decor and massive menu. Walk in and you'll feel like you just accidentally stumbled upon a born-and-raised Hawaiian's favorite little BBQ spot.
I recommend settling into one of Q & Q's comfortable dining spaces before you head to the counter to order - because this menu is extensive and diverse.

What to Order
You'll find truly-Hawaiian flavors like Crab Rangoon, Hawaiian BBQ Beef, Island Caesar Salad, Chicken Katsu, Mahi Mahi, Spicy Beef/Chicken/Shrimp Curries and Hawaiian beverages on the menu, with most accompanied by Hawaiian barbecue classic sides like macaroni salad and steamed rice. Everything we tried was delicious, but we couldn't help but share our favorites.
Spam Musubi
Q & Q's Spam Musubi is their take on the famous Hawaiian snack made from rice, nori and Spam - plus all the Island flavor you crave. It's portable, affordable, tasty - and the most popular way to eat Spam in Hawaii.
Kalbi Short Ribs
Prepared the Q & Q way with soy sauce, green onions and a bit of brown sugar, these short ribs are so tender, the meat falls off the bone.
Teriyaki Chicken
A little sweet and a lot tangy, the Teriyaki Chicken was an easy-to-share-with-kids choice that had toddlers and teens alike asking for more.
