Kids & Christ: Making God Relevant to Today's Children
May, 2009 - Issue #55
Sometimes it's a struggle to get kids excited about going to church. And how do we know that they're really "taking the message in" once we get them there? The answer is all at once easy and difficult. Like so many other parenting matters, it comes down to "us."

It will be Real to Them when it is Real to Us
The teachings of Christ are just as relevant today as they were when first spoken. It's not about how can we be relevant, it's about teaching our kids about their need for Christ. It's about inviting them to know Christ and His perfect plan and purpose for them. In a world where kids have lost respect and honor for spiritual leadership, it's about us living in such a way that every child, kid and young adult sees an example of Godly leadership and people who love God authentically. The gospel is relevant... Yet to this generation we have made it irrelevant because we often treat being a Christ follower as what we do... not who we are. Christ will be real to this generation when we allow it to become real in us and lead by example. ~ Pastor Javier Labrador
of Frontline Community Church 513-0240 www.frontlinescv.com

You are an Example
We as parents must become models or examples. In Proverbs 22:6, the Bible instructs us to train up a child in the way that he should go. The best and simplest way to learn is by copying or duplicating the example provided by a model. We tend to learn faster and more completely when one is provided. As we consistently strive to model behavior prescribed by the teachings of Christ in our daily lives, we provide relevance for our children because they become firsthand witnesses of the blessings and benefits of serving God who loves us unconditionally.
