"Legacy Christian Academy has been an amazing gift to our family! We knew it was a great school before our children began attending five years ago, but we had no idea how much we would grow to love the people of Legacy. The Borruels, the administration and all of the staff truly go above and beyond to teach and love on our children. The network of parents, students and staff can truly be commended for their continued love and support of our family. We feel so fortunate for the opportunity our children have each and every day to attend a National Blue Ribbon School that excels in every aspect of education. However, we are most thankful for the Biblical foundation that is given the utmost priority in the molding and shaping of our children's hearts. It is so great to partner with a school that proclaims and demonstrates the love of Jesus! It is an honor and joy to be part of the Legacy family!"

STEAM Learners Earn More as Adults
Here's a stunning stat: More than 65 percent of students today will, in their adulthood, have careers that do not yet exist. That jaw-dropping data is from the Department of Labor, which also gives us this tidbit - STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) workers boast wages that are 29 percent above the national average and demonstrate above average growth. What does all this mean to parents of younger children? If we want our littles to have the best chance at a successful future tomorrow, we need to give them STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) education today.

"At Legacy, we give children the opportunity to invent the world they want to live in tomorrow," shares Matt Millett, Legacy Christian Academy's head of school. "Our teachers help them identify the problems they want to solve and then give them the skills, tools, time and space to engage in trial and error, finding solutions in a collaborative environment. It builds patience, diligence, critical thinking skills and the understanding that failure isn't anything but another chance to do it differently next time."

Legacy was warmly nicknamed "Legacy Tech" because of their remarkable investments in STEAM, including their all-new Discovery Hall, which includes an Apple-esque Innovation Lab and floor-to-ceiling remodeled dedicated Science Lab. The campus hosts a variety of STEAM programming and events that coordinate with the daily tech-friendly curriculum that can be found in every course and classroom. "Legacy's STEAM education is fully immersive," explains Millett. "We have a highly-interactive campus community where technology is integrated at every turn. Our classrooms have SmartBoards, our front office has the highest-tech security systems. Our entire culture has expanded to incorporate STEAM and our students love showing it off. Our Family Science Night, Family Art Night, and our STEM EXPO are some of the most-attended experiences of the year. They love it and are so proud o f their accomplishments!"

SCVi Charter School Offers International Baccalaureate Programme
Santa Clarita Valley International Charter School brings a learner-centered approach to education and its unique offerings include the International Baccalaureate Programme for high school students.

SCVi, the founding campus of iLEAD Schools, is the only campus in the SCV that provides the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program, which "aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect."

Sara Brown, community outreach coordinator for SCVi, said the IB program is a key component of SCVi's approach to helping students develop a lifelong passion for learning.

"The International Baccalaureate program is recognized by universities as an excellent tool to prepare students for success in college and beyond," Brown said. "The IB program challenges learners with rigorous coursework and college-level expectations." More information on the IB program is available online.

Art is an Essential Element in STEAM Education
STEAM is the educational force that is driving innovation in America, fusing Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM) in forward-looking classrooms across the country. "Many of our Fun Sculpting for Kids' parents work in the science and tech field," shares Cody Pence, a professional sculptor and owner of Fun Sculpting for Kids. "They know how vital art skills, particularly three-dimensional art skills, can be to the process of innovation. Before you can build something, you have to conceive of it - play with the proportions, revise it as necessary. You also have to be able to take a two-dimensional concept, maybe a drawing or a drafted project, and be able to realize it in three dimensions. Sculpting skills are vital for both of these. Here, kids are learning these incredible skills that cross over into STEAM - all while having a blast! They're improving their hand/eye coordination, refining their fine motor skills, developing critical thinking skills, problem solving, exercising their attention spans and making cool projects they're proud of!"
