The Master's University Swim Wins Four National Titles
The Master's University men's and women's swim teams are making a tradition of traveling to Elkhart, Indiana and coming home with a host of hardware. This semester, the Mustangs won four individual national championships and recorded the best team finishes in program history (women - fifth, men - seventh). This brings TMU's total to 25 NAIA national championships across all sports - 21 of them coming since 2023.
For swim, Izaiah Trevino-Lozano, a transfer from California Baptist University, took first place in the men's 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1 minute, 34.91 seconds. Teammate Evan Nail, a transfer from Arizona State University, won the men's 400 individual medley in an NAIA record time of 3:48.16.
For the women, Katherine Dyer, just a sophomore, claimed the third individual national championship of her career, following up on last year's prolific efforts by winning the 100 freestyle this year (49.64). Dyer also anchored the 400 free relay, which might have provided the meet's highlight. Dyer, Kylee Sears, Clara Patterson and Megan Sutanto came from behind in dramatic fashion to break an 11-year-old NAIA record, winning in 3:22.37.
