Avoid the Street at Trunk-or-Treat
The safer, saner way to load your cuties up with their own weight in sugar? The eighth-annual Trunk-or-Treat event on Sunday, October 28 from 5pm to 6:30pm at Santa Clarita United Methodist Church. This totally-free event invites kids of all ages to trick-or-treat from trunk to trunk in a lineup of cars in the church's parking lot. Nosh on a free hot dog, master their box maze and enjoy the company of your neighbors. Costumes are not required, but if your children do choose to don their Halloween finest, they need to be of the non-scary variety. scumc.org

Do the Monster Mash at the Monster Bash
The VIA BASH has become one of the must-attend business events in the Santa Clarita Valley and on Friday, Octtober 26 at the Hyatt Regency Valencia, the Valley Industry Association's signature gala will transform into an evening of elegant ghoulishness and costumed couture. The Halloween-inspired evening will be complete with decor and guests will dance to the high-energy sounds of The Urban Renewal Project, a Los Angeles-based big band that creates a signature sound that blurs the boundaries between soul, jazz, and hip-hop. Costumes are encouraged - or black tie optional.

Keeping in theme, VIA is offering Black Rose sponsorships available before the event to benefit the VIA Education Foundation. Every $20 black rose donation helps fund the cost for sending students to Connecting to Success, a workplace readiness program training 2,500 high school juniors annually from all area high schools. Students learn financial literacy, business ethics and communicating their value in the half-day workshop.

As part of the evening's festivities, VIA honors and showcases businesses within Santa Clarita by celebrating the diversity and accomplishments of its members. Awards are given to those individuals and members of distinction deserving in one of three categories: Business of the Year, Rising Star, and the Connie Worden-Roberts Volunteer of the Year Award. Nola Aronson's Advanced Audiology is the Monster BASH Event Title Sponsor.
