"I moved from Newton, MA to LA with my two daughters Bella, 18, and LaNisa, 7, to pursue our dream to become working actors. Within the first week of living here we signed up with Santa Clarita School of Performing Arts. There are classes to satisfy every aspect of the business that we had interests in, like singing, dancing and acting for commercials, TV and movies. We signed up for the unlimited program and started classes immediately. Within two months, both of my daughters had representation by a manager and an agent. They have been busy with auditions and taking classes. Every penny that we spent to live our dream was worth it. Mike and his staff are so helpful and made us feel welcome and part of the SCSOPA family. Anyone looking to improve their confidence who wants to enhance their craft and grow their knowledge - sign up with SCSOPA! Things can move really fast or at whatever pace you are comfortable with. We love it here!"

Easter Baskets a Dentist would Love

Fun floss, animation-character tooth brushes, novelty fluoride toothpaste - oh my! Dental care and sweet-treat seasons don't have to be in conflict when you add health-minded surprises to your kids' bunny-delivered baskets. And - if candy does make it inside, too - stick to the less sticky! Peanut butter cups and chocolate rabbits are much friendlier to tooth crevices than jelly beans and caramels that can get stuck between teeth.

Reading this could Save a Life!

Drowning is the leading cause of accidental death for children under the age of 5 in the state of California - and the second leading cause of accidental death for children under the age of 14. Education and vigilance with your children around water cannot be stressed enough. The Swim for Life Foundation has developed a "Safer 3" message which has been adopted by the National Drowning Prevention Alliance.
The Safer 3 includes:
Safer Water Put upper locks on doors leading to pools or other bodies of water in your yard; install fences around pools and cover spas. Purchase pool alarms that sound when the surface water tension has been broken.
Safer Kids Educate children to never go in or around water without an adult supervisor. Teach them how to help or rescue another who may be struggling in the water without entering the water or putting themselves in danger - and how to call 9-1-1. Instruct your children how to swim and how to float on their backs with their clothes on. Always have a designated water watcher while around any body of water with children. Even excellent young swimmers require supervision!
Safer Response Learn CPR so that if you ever do have to rescue a child from the bottom of the pool, precious minutes are not lost while waiting for an ambulance or other emergency responder.
For more information on swimming lessons or water safety, plus a free 25-minute private swim lesson, contact Academy Swim Club. 702-8585
