"Crystal loves attention! As she was growing up, we enrolled her in various classes to hone her skills. Most of the time, she would let us know that she did not enjoy her classes... until SCSOPA! Santa Clarita School of Performing Arts has a wide variety of classes ranging from modeling, acting to voiceover and everything in between. The teachers are educated and experienced. It is a pleasure for her to attend class and she is learning so much. This is a place where you truly get what you pay for. Let this be an open invitation for aspiring actors/models as well as families who are seeking a place where kids can develop their talents to come and explore what Santa Clarita School of Performing Arts has to offer!"

The 11th Annual KHTS Home & Garden Show Returns
The 11th Annual KHTS Home & Garden Show is back after a two-year hiatus. The show will again be located at Central Park on Saturday, April 30 from 10am to 5pm and on Sunday, May 1 from 10am to 4pm. Admission is free.
Spectators can visit over 450 booths featuring Santa Clarita vendors. "We've selected wonderful local businesses - most have been serving Santa Clarita for many years," remarked KHTS's Carl Goldman. "It's a wide array of services for your home. You'll be able to talk with experts and compare."
The event always features family fun and this year there's something new: The Butterfly Encounter. Get up close to hundreds of butterflies as they swarm around, feasting on nectar from a stick in your hand.
You'll enter a tent filled with hundreds of butterflies. "We feature three different species," shared owner Deborah Lurie. "Everyone gets handed a feeding stick with nectar, free of charge. It's quite the educational experience."
The Butterfly Encounter, sponsored by The Santa Clarita Water Agency, even gives away caterpillars to kids, "so they get to see the whole transformation," explains Lurie. There's also a large arts and crafts fair featuring many Santa Clarita artists and craft makers.
Saturday will feature the Emergency Expo. On Sunday, dozens of vintage sports cars will be on display courtesy of the Santa Clarita Corvette Club.
"Your kids will have a fantastic time," said show coordinator Cyndi Kleinfeld. "We have an entire area, the Kid Zone, with fun activities. Gilchrist Farm will showcase a petting zoo, pig races and pony rides. The Butterfly Encounter is a unique experience. On Saturday, we feature the Emergency Expo, with plenty of firetrucks and other emergency vehicles. Kids can climb on board, hit the siren and talk to our first responders."
Everyone's favorite food trucks will be there, too. Enjoy lobster rolls, fusion tacos, New York Style pizza, gourmet burgers and much more. This year's show sponsor is Providence Holy Cross Health & Services.

Water Safety Essentials
Reading this could Save a Life

Drowning is the leading cause of accidental death for children under the age of 5 in California and the second leading cause of accidental death for children under the age of 14. Education and vigilance with your children around water cannot be stressed enough.
The Stop Drowning Now Foundation has developed a Safer 3 message which has been adopted by the National Drowning Prevention Alliance. The Safer 3 includes the following.
Safer Water
Put upper locks on doors leading to pools or other bodies of water in your yard. Be sure to lock pet doors. Put fences around pools, covers on spas and pool alarms that sound when the surface water tension has been broken.
Safer Kids
Educate children to never go in or around water without an adult supervisor. Teach them how to help or rescue another who may be struggling in the water without entering the water or putting themselves in danger and how to call 911. Teach your children how to swim and how to float on their backs with their clothes on. Always have a designated water watcher while around any body of water with children. Even excellent young swimmers require supervision.
Safer Response
Learn CPR so that if you ever do have to rescue your child from the bottom of the pool, precious minutes are not lost while waiting for emergency responders.
Academy Swim Club offers free assessment lessons and education.
