A Sweet Reminder to "Treat" Kids to Non-candy Halloween Surprises
There's no shortage of sweet treats on Halloween - and that's how it should be. Still, some kids have health conditions that make the traditional candy bars a no-go on the scariest night of the year. Protect teeth - and feelings - by passing out fun surprises everyone can enjoy.
Our favorites are cute pencil erasers, sticker sheets, glow sticks, LED light rings, mini containers of slime and Play-Doh, vampire teeth, bubbles, temporary tattoos and hair scrunchies - but that's just scratching the surface. Head to your local dollar store, hop on Amazon or craft something at home. Whatever you decide, it's sure to be sweet!

"Joining Santa Clarita School of Performing Arts is one of the greatest decisions I could have made for my daughter. Chaise has expressed interest in acting and modeling since she could talk. She has always said that she wanted to be on TV. The problem was that we had no idea where to start. We didn't know anything about how to find an agent, creating a resume, what headshots are supposed to look like, etc. Luckily, a friend told us about SCSOPA and that it is the go-to place to start your acting career. They provide acting/modeling classes, preparation for auditions and self-taping and they have agents/managers visit the studio every Saturday in search of new talents. They also provide headshots, help create a resume and provide instructions on obtaining the work permit. My daughter loves Mike and all of the staff. Everyone is helpful and supportive, the teachers are amazing and knowledgeable. Less than four months after joining SCSOPA, Chaise found an agent she loves and booked her first job in a MLB commercial. This has been an awarding journey for us so far and we can't wait to see where it takes her."

Start prepping for the holidays?
Yes, we know it feels like the interior of an oven outside - but we're only weeks away from hard-core holiday time. We're following @JeannaLovesChristmas on Instagram for decor inspo; picking up gifts and stocking stuffers when we see the perfect present; and scheduling special holiday events on the calendar.

Gift your kids their own PSL moment? How many mommy influencers did you see sipping on a Pumpkin Spice Latte in 100-degree weather? As many captions claimed: It's never too hot for #PSL. We add a dash or three of Trader Joe's Pumpkin Pie Spice to everything this time of year - from waffles to sliced apples, Greek yogurt to oatmeal - for a flavorful change of pace.

Treat your teachers? Back-to-School night is over, the box of tissues you donated at the start of the year is long gone and your kid's teacher is... tired. So, so tired. Don't wait for the holidays to gift them the pick-me-up they deserve. A $5 gift card to their fave coffee shop is nice - $50 to Amazon is nicer - but any teacher will tell you that "just" a kind thank-you note goes a long way, too.
