The Master's University Swim Wins Four National Titles
The Master's University men's and women's swim teams are making a tradition of traveling to Elkhart, Indiana this time of year and coming home with a host of hardware. In March, the Mustangs won four individual national championships and recorded the best team finishes in program history, with the women taking fifth and the men seventh. Izaiah Trevino-Lozano took first place in the men's 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1 minute, 34.91 seconds. Teammate Evan Nail won the men's 400 individual medley in an NAIA record time of 3:48.16. For the women, Katherine Dyer, just a sophomore, claimed the third individual national championship of her career, following up on last year's prolific efforts by winning the 100 freestyle this year (49.64). Dyer also anchored the 400 free relay, which might have provided the meet's highlight. Dyer, Kylee Sears, Clara Patterson and Megan Sutanto came from behind in dramatic fashion to break an 11-year-old NAIA record, winning in 3:22.37. Head coach Curren Bates was in awe. "The ladies delivered pure magic," he said. "It was the longest standing relay record in NAIA history - and now it's gone."

"I'm Lev Wicked and I make films that haunt you a little. I write, direct and act in genre stories that live somewhere between magical realism and psychological horror. My latest feature, 'Bleeding Heart,' is about grief, transformation and identity. As a multifaceted creator, it is very important to me to have support of community and a sounding board for my art and practices. I have gained both of these things by my attendance at SCSOPA, where I am surrounded by other people and their pursuit to create beauty and art through motion. I've learned a lot within my short months at the school from teachers as well as fellow craftspeople. I've been provided ample opportunity to network, which has really helped me gain more traction and interest in my work. I am very honored that the school has been so supportive and has given me a place to rise."
