Santa Clarita's Good Neighbors at Good Neighbor Pharmacies
February, 2011 - Issue #76
Did you know that the three Santa Clarita Valley Good Neighbor Pharmacies are a part of a network of 3,600 Good Neighbor Pharmacies nationwide? Being a part of the Good Neighbor Pharmacy (GNP) network allows for better pricing and insurance contracts, as well as increased access to new medications and medical equipment items. In fact, Good Neighbor Pharmacy was recently recognized by J.D. Power and Associates as having the highest rate of customer satisfaction amongst chain store pharmacies.

Santa Clarita's own GNP locations (Saugus Drugs & Hallmark; Valencia Pharmacy; Valencia Town Center Pharmacy) offer all of the services that GNP is known for, like: friendly, caring pharmacists and staff; superior skills in managing chronic conditions such as diabetes; and extra attention to possible medication interactions.

However, the folks at Good Neighbor Pharmacy of SCV have added to these services. At Saugus Drugs & Hallmark, Valencia Pharmacy, and Valencia Town Center Pharmacy they go out of their way to be good neighbors in the SCV. Their services include free delivery to senior and retirement communities, medical equipment repairs and free assistance with Medicare Part D enrollment. In addition to the services provided in the pharmacies you will also find the GNP of SCV staff out at community events such as the American Diabetes Walk, the Cystic Fibrosis Walk, and Henry Mayo Health Fairs. You may also see them at fundraisers for organizations like Carousel Ranch and the SCV Senior Center.

Two ongoing programs that have garnered attention are the "In it Together" and "Together for Seniors" programs. These two programs are funded entirely by SCV GNP pharmacies. Funds are set up to assist those who are unable to afford critical medications.

The "Together for Seniors" program is a partnership with the SCV Senior Center Foundation and is focused exclusively on helping seniors. Here's how it works: Any time a person fills their prescriptions at these GNP locations, the pharmacy donates 1 percent of the prescriptions' cost into a fund for patients who cannot otherwise afford medications. To participate, just fill a prescription and let the pharmacy know that you would like to participate. There's no cost to you.

SCV residents are taking notice of the Good Neighbor Pharmacies. Saugus Drugs & Hallmark was recently voted "Best Pharmacy" in
The Signal readers' poll. People who count on GNP for their medication and medical equipment needs find that their pricing is competitive with (and often lower) than the large chain stores, and the services are superior.
