Remember to Act FAST
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, close to 800,000 strokes occur in the United States every year. Although stroke is such a prevalent health concern, many people don't know the warning signs or how to protect themselves or their loved ones. According to the American Stroke Association (ASA), when proper treatment is started within 90 minutes of the onset of symptoms, the chance for a full recovery greatly increases.
These are the FAST warning signs of a stroke that you should know and act upon:
F - Face drooping
A - Arm weakness
S - Speech difficulty
T - Time to call 911

A stroke can be an extremely-challenging medical event to cope with and recover from; patients must simultaneously overcome physical, cognitive and emotional challenges. Regardless of the severity, it is critical to take a proactive approach to post stroke care.
If you require expert advice on care options, Assisted Living Locators' no-cost placement and referral service offers the best information and resources available. 544-1004

"As soon as stroke survivors are stabilized, complete their acute care and return home from rehabilitation, they and their family may feel it's time to put this scary time behind them. But to move forward confidently, with a plan to prevent future incidence of stroke, having an experienced neurologist by your side is essential. Neurological symptoms can pop up seemingly out of the blue. Having a baseline established, a plan in place and a team that's prepared is the best way to identify potential problems before they exacerbate and possibly
RESULT IN ANOTHER STROKE."

Direct-to-Consumer Orthodontics aren't a Reason to Smile
By now, you have probably been bombarded with ads on social media, TV, radio and podcasts about direct-to-consumer orthodontics. Maybe you've seen the pictures on Facebook-supported ads with a "before" photo of dark, crooked teeth and an "after" picture of straight, white, freshly-bleached teeth. Convincing? Not when you take a closer look.
They cost less - and more. Typically costing around $2,000 - which many times is less than half what you would pay at an orthodontist's office for orthodontic treatment - this seems like an offer that is too good to be true. But the damage that often results can cost twice as much - or more - to fix, not to mention the cost that comes with time and discomfort.
Periodontal gum tissue isn't adequately evaluated. Before even starting this type of direct-to-consumer treatment or any type of orthodontic treatment, the foundation of the teeth, which is the periodontal gum tissue, needs to be evaluated by a professional through clinical measurement, not with an iPhone picture. Basically, if your gums are not strong enough, orthodontic tooth movement can cause more harm than good. This can never be sufficiently or adequately evaluated with a picture over the internet.
There's a big difference between an aligner that slips on and one that has custom-bonded buttons. A mail-order aligner that simply slips over your teeth is no substitute for a custom-fabricated aligner designed by an orthodontist who has also bonded specific buttons on your teeth to allow them to move in the best manner possible. If you want to accomplish a broad smile, straight alignment and a healthy bite, visit your orthodontist and schedule a free consultation to evaluate your teeth and smile.

Opioids can be Replaced with Light Lasers
There are legitimate reasons to have a prescription for opioids - but when you factor in the high probability for addiction, consider the impact on the liver, remind yourself about the potential for accidental overdose and more - opioids are often better left untouched.
The primary reason opioids are prescribed is acute pain - which can also effectively be treated by the non-invasive use of low-level light laser treatments. Another bonus: LLLT won't just dull the pain - it can actually dramatically heal the underlying cause of the trauma. You can try it for free with no obligation when mentioning Inside SCV at time of booking.

Why Inflammation could be at the Root of your Health Problems
Our body's inflammatory response can be a lifesaver. Cut yourself? Get an infection? That inflammation is going to isolate bacteria, stop bleeding and heal your trama. But there's a down side, too. When our body's immune response is firing on all cylinders because of a poor diet, too much fight-or-flight stress, untreated illnesses and more, this natural immune response can hit overdrive - causing cancer, autoimmune disorders, diabetes, arthritis and more.
One cause of inflammation can be found in your mouth. Gum pockets are the portal of entry to the rest of the body, seriously affecting vital organs. The takeaway? Do not neglect diseased gums!
Laser periodontal treatments can help. This new technology is growing rapidly and is part of a comprehensive treatment approach for periodontal disease. Gum disease is treated using lasers by killing and removing harmful bacteria and rebuilding lost bone. Laser gum treatments create results that far exceed what traditional periodontal treatment has achieved. It is much less invasive with less downtime and sensitivity. Loose teeth will tighten-up over time, too, compared to traditional gum surgery. Plus, laser gum treatments kill and remove the pathologic microbes - viruses, spirochetes, fungus, molds and abnormal bacteria that take up residence inside deep uncleansable diseased gum pockets.Toothbrush bristles and dental floss cannot reach farther than 3mm into gum crevices, so if you have a 4 mm deep gum pocket or deeper, these microbes are happy to live and multiply inside deep gum pockets. They stay there, causing inflammation and diseases inside the rest of the body. These diseases spread from your tooth root via the blood stream to your heart, kidneys, liver, brain and other vital body organs.
