High school sweethearts Anna and Thomas Terry met at Simi Valley High because of their mutual love of music. After 22 years of wedded bliss, the pair and their 12-year-old son Andrew still come together through musical notes, but now it's Andrew's skill on the piano that inspires tender moments.

"I love it when he plays; because of our hard-wood floors, the music resonates throughout the entire home," says Anna.

Classical tunes aren't the only things that run through this Stevenson Ranch home located in the Southern Oaks development. Its 3,400 square feet are filled with coordinating traditional and neutral elements that run from room to room.

"I wanted our home to feel like a favorite hotel lobby. When I walk through those doors after a long day at work, I want to feel like I'm on vacation from the rest of the world, and I think we've accomplished that," says Anna.

The family could use a little relaxation time. Thomas, a helicopter pilot for 13 years, works in the news and movie industry and provides executive charters. Anna works for the junior apparel brand Hot Kiss and manages the web end of the business.

Anna's and Thomas's many guests benefit from the resort-escape themed home. The Terry family is big on entertaining. "My mother-in-law even comments on how often we host parties. It's pretty common for us. But that's how we are; we always want our friends and neighbors to know that if they want to come over and hang out and relax, when they ring that doorbell, we're ready for them," she continues.

Guests are welcomed to the home with the sound of a bubbling fountain at the entry, and once inside, most flock to the comfortably-appointed kitchen and living area. "When selecting this home, I was drawn to the location and the entertainment possibilities. With the way the home is laid out, we can be ready for a party in just an hour. The awesome bar and kitchen make entertaining easy."

The fun continues into the backyard through the sets of French doors off of the kitchen and dining room. Surrounded by lush landscape, the yard is a paradise of water elements, foliage and enough stamped concrete to fit dozens of outdoor-loving guests.

The pool is the center of attention, however. "It's a very adult layout perfect for entertaining and enjoying time together. The pool tile reminds me of trips I've taken to Spain and Italy," says Anna. The pool also features two falls and a Jacuzzi.

Located on a cul-de-sac filled with friendly faces, the Terrys are never short of folks to invite over for a drink and dip in the pool. "Everyone is so nice here. It's a great place to live. For Easter, for example, our little street even hosted a communal egg hunt."

When not playing host to friends and family, the Terrys relax in their calm retreat. Over-stuffed couches, padded dining chairs and casual office furniture all play a roll in keeping blood pressures low.

Keeping with the theme, the home's soft color palate is a delicate mix of neutral paint hues, flooring and stained wood. "I like that things match. It's Anna style, I suppose," says Anna. Even though many rooms are filled with coordinating sets, mostly purchased from Citrus and Consumers Furniture, the final look is anything but forced.

Possibly one of the most unique features of the home is located in the master bathroom. There you'll find a glass shower door that defies description. "It's an amazing part of the house and totally unheard of when it comes to tract homes. We are actually renovating the entire bathroom around the shower door," says Anna. The enclosed shower boasts thick glass that seems beveled and texturized - just one more resort-like aspect of the home that provides for daily enjoyment.

With five bedrooms total, two of which have been converted to a gym and a playroom, plus five bathrooms, quiet and solitude are never difficult to achieve - no passport required.
