Botox for your Home's Interior
July, 2016 - Issue #141
Does your space need a noticeable lift - but you're not ready to totally remodel? Inject style into your home with these timeless techniques.

For a Totally-new Look, get Rid of it All & Start Over
Here's the best way to make a dated room look light and fresh: Remove absolutely everything and start over! Rebecca Rollins Interiors has another suggestion: Let Rebecca take out every builder addition and replace it with custom quality design. In this home, all-new tile floors that look like real wood were installed; crown and new baseboards were added; La Cantina folding windows in a custom stained finish were selected; new light fixtures were included and the look was pulled together with light-grey walls.

Give your Bath a Facelift
Check out this master-bath renovation performed by Dannick Design. They removed the flooring, shower and tub, old fixtures, mirrors and tile within the shower. To give their client the fresh-face look, they installed mosaic tile for the floor and within the shower. Dannick then created a ribbon through the middle of the shower and through the tub area to match with the shower. They updated the space with an Americh soaking tub and upgraded the toilet with the TOTO Eco Drake in cotton white; both are energy efficient and water conserving. The shower doors were selected from Valencia Shower Doors; the brushed-nickel hardware matches the Moen Raindance water-conserving showerhead. These updates gave the client a master bath facelift without renovating the cabinets and counter top. It only took about three weeks to complete. 775-7430

Get Rid of Flooring "Dividing Lines"

The height of fashion some time ago was honey-tone red-oak flooring. Many of the homes in our beloved SCV are still rocking the look. Now is the perfect time to remove the dividing lines that separate your rooms and install a new European oak floor throughout the downstairs areas. This will update your home with a cutting-edge look and also make your rooms feel more spacious and comfortable! The pros at Brent's Carpet One can help. 255-3337

Refresh Tired Surfaces with Professional Paint Services
If your walls are worn and out of date, the entire look of your space suffers. Set the tone with totally-new shades that reflect your style and bring a touch of timelessness to your design. While paint is one of the top DIYs, do-it-yourself is rarely recommended for older homes. The prep involved can be intense. Professionals are ready to remove a decade's worth of grease film, fingerprints and grime - plus spackle, fill and sand every little hole and dent - but are you? If the answer is "no," call a pro. ALLBRiGHT 1-800-PAINTING is celebrated for their service and quality work, but the real bonus is their free color consultation. Working with an experienced designer takes the guesswork out of shade selection, which we're positive is the cause for about 25 percent of divorces in the SCV.

Maximize Storage in "Small Package" Homes
Sometimes beautiful things can be found in small packages, and sometimes they are bigger than we initially believe. Such is the case with this gem nestled in a quiet area of Saugus. Careful planning and execution have resulted in an addition that makes the most of the owners' space. The same mindset came into play when updating the kitchen. Careful detail was given to every cabinet to maximize storage and to showcase lovely belongings. The kitchen features custom Shaker-style cabinetry, a Kohler Whitehaven sink and Artifacts faucets in polished nickel that complement the Minuet Quartz counter tops. The backsplash is Fireclay tile with a custom accent piece. The sub-zero refrigerator is built into the pantry wall to look like furniture and the coffee bar/butler's pantry showcases the homeowner's collectibles in lighted cabinets.
