So you have guests arriving for the holidays, and the house just isn't looking its best? You may not have the time or budget for a re-design, but I bet you will have time for some fast decorating face lifts!
Why not try these budget friendly remedies to spruce up your home for a party, house guests, or just because you are worth it?
Slipcovers Are a Cinch
If your upholstery is looking tired and ragged, there is no quicker facelift than a slipcover. Buying custom can take up to two weeks and break the bank. There are many slipcovers available online that are sure to fit your sofa or chair to make your piece look like new again.
Toss a Pillow
Accent pillows in bright colors can be fun and trendy without making a huge expensive commitment to a new design for the entire room. Look to your favorite stores for inspiration.
Repurpose Furniture
Take an unused chest of drawers from a bedroom into the family room; place some photos and a table lamp on it to create a cozy vignette. Doesn't cost you a penny, except sweat equity!
Paint an Accent Wall
Pick one wall in your room to add a jolt of color. More than any other design element, wall color has the ability to change the feeling of a room.
Anchor your Seating
An area rug can be placed on a hard floor, or over an existing wall-to-wall carpet. The trick is to have the rug large enough to anchor your seating group; usually a 5-by-7-foot or an 8-by-10-foot will do the trick.
Edit Down
Sometimes the best way to improve a room is to remove some furniture and accessories. Don't over think it. Take a photo of the room to give you an objective view of the room. Remove what looks like clutter. This will breathe new life into the room and does not cost one penny!
