Castaic's Newest Restaurant's Vibe is a Family Pleaser
Just in time to celebrate 22 years in business in the SCV, Wolf Creek Restaurant & Brewing Co. has released their new Brewer's Menu featuring fare with Asian flare! Prepare yourselves for a festival of flavor because these new entrees are going to get your palate dancing.
The service at Marston's Restaurant in Bridgeport Marketplace is as speedy as it is friendly, which is ironically unfortunate when considering the popular SCV spot's new menu selections. These are flavors that you want to take your time with, get to know and share. Thankfully, the staff is used to lingering guests, because you don't want to rush these meals. They're worth savoring.
The Old Town Junction is love, finally requited.
A longtime fan of Chef Daniel Otto, this is the moment - and the restaurant - I've been waiting for. I'm not alone.
After a recent visit to JJ's Bar & Grill in Valencia, a friend asked me about my experience. What first came to mind wasn't the tasty food I noshed on, or the great drinks I had while re-connecting with an old friend. No, what came out of my mouth was this telling tidbit: "It was so relaxing!"
Sometimes, less really is more. That's the philosophy of Marston's Restaurant's beloved "Chef Jim" McCardy, a man who has a well-known knack for finding the best seasonal produce, meats and fish available anywhere.

Our top roadtrips June through August all include beach breezes, adorable towns and the Cali vibe.
Have a taste for the finer things? These SCV finds are totally top shelf.
It's estimated that over 6 million traffic accidents occur in the United States each year, with more than 90 people dying in car accidents daily. With those kinds of statistics, it makes sense that we should do everything we can to reduce our risk of accidents, injury - or worse.
Santa Clarita is known for being safe, having great schools, terrible traffic during road construction on the 5 and... that's about it. And that's ok. We're only a quarter of a century old, after all. But those in the know know that our up-and-coming culture is becoming more cultured by the day. We drive cool cars, listen to opera, revisit theatrical classics and even belong to posh country clubs. It might not be enough to throw shade at, say, Pasadena - but we're on our way.
Sure, the SCV gets a snow day now and again, but it's rarely more than a few pretty little flakes.
For the ultimate in snowball fights, you have to drive. Here are our fave spots for a day of snow play!
SCV's got a pretty high communal IQ. As a population, we're well educated, we invest in local schools and we're proud to be home to smarty-pants bio/tech companies. But what's really smart is how we show off our intelligence with our own clever car, coffee... and even roller coaster.

GET OUT OF TOWN
I took what might have sounded like a wishful comment from my wife as a request. "I want to go camping at Jalama," April said in passing at some point last winter.
Given California's size, it seems there are always more roads that lead to undiscovered corners of the state.
Until recently, the western segment of State Route 178 was one of them for me. If it sounds familiar, it's that left turn off State Route 14, past Red Rock on the way to Mammoth, that seemingly leads to nowhere.
When considering weekend get-away destinations, Santa Barbara is tough to beat. Lively bars. Intriguing restaurants. Abundant shopping. Chic hotels. All accented with that worry-free weather. What's not to love, right?
The grounds are bursting with luscious blooms; rich, glorious green is everywhere the eye can see; and the warming sun is balanced by cool marine breezes. It's spring at The Saticoy Club - and it is glorious.
When it comes to hiking, I'm usually reluctant to leave the Santa Clarita Valley. Why drive somewhere else when you can hit any one of dozens of trails right here in our own backyard?
There's one question that inspires fear in every significant other. OK, two questions, actually.
Sometimes, Fido has as much cabin fever as you do. Get everyone out of the house for a date night that's doggy approved.
Don't miss July's local concerts - they're free!
When your town hasn't even reached the low side of middle aged, finding a cultural event that's over two decades old is too good to pass up. Here are two you don't want to miss.
The Youth Project and Re/Max of Valencia and Santa Clarita are proud to announce the sixth-annual Golf Classic to be held at The Oaks Club at Valencia on Monday, June 10.
Forget waiting for that high school reunion, the invitation to "hang" that might never come. The new trend is reaching out to old friends - and while social media, texts and calls are good, the gold standard is the in-person meetup. Laugh about old times, find out what they've been up to, lament about a loss and make new memories in a spot that's fresh to you both.
